Men's loafers

Men's loafers are the slip-on shoe you can step into in seconds and wear just as easily to the office as on a stroll along the seafront. Our selection includes Callaghan, Fluchos, Stonefly and Martinelli in suede, nubuck and leather, from understated brown, grey and navy to summery beige, white, green and peach.

Some pairs are made for year-round wear, others for spring and summer – perfect with chinos, jeans or shorts and a pair of no-show socks.

Choosing the right pair

Start with where you'll wear them. For the office, darker or neutral shades (brown, navy, grey) and a clean upper with minimal stitching look sharpest. For weekends or summer on the coast, lighter colours such as beige, white or green work brilliantly with shorts or linen trousers. If you'll be on your feet for hours, check that the sole bends easily at the toes and feels steady at the heel.

Suede, nubuck or leather?

  • Suede: soft and comfortable from day one, with a relaxed look that suits warm weather. Best kept away from rain.
  • Nubuck: leather that's lightly buffed for a velvety finish. A little hardier than suede and smart enough for both jeans and tailored trousers.
  • Smooth leather: the most versatile option and the easiest to clean. It moulds to your foot over time.

Fit and sizing

With no laces, a loafer's fit comes down to the instep and the heel. When you try them on, the instep should feel held without pinching, and your heel shouldn't lift out as you walk. Leave a little room in front of your toes, but not so much that your foot slides around. Leather and suede give slightly with wear, so a snug fit on day one is better than a loose one. If you plan to wear them with no-show socks, try them on that way.

Caring for your loafers

  • Brush suede and nubuck when dry with a dedicated brush to lift the nap and remove dust.
  • Apply a waterproofing spray before the first wear and top it up now and then.
  • Wipe smooth leather with a damp cloth and feed it with a matching cream.
  • If they get wet, stuff them with paper and let them dry at room temperature, away from direct sun or heaters.
  • Rotating between two pairs lets the leather breathe and helps them last longer.

Frequently asked questions

What size loafers should I order?

We recommend your usual size. A loafer should feel snug at the instep, and your heel shouldn't slip out as you walk. If you're unsure about a particular model, call or email us and we'll help you choose.

What's the difference between suede, nubuck and leather loafers?

Suede is very soft with a casual feel; nubuck has a velvety finish and is a little more durable; smooth leather is the most versatile and easiest to clean. All three are natural materials that adapt to your foot over time.

How do I look after suede or nubuck loafers?

Brush them when dry with a suede brush, apply a waterproofing spray before the first wear and try to keep them out of the rain. If they do get damp, let them dry at room temperature, away from direct heat.

Can I wear loafers without socks?

Yes, especially in spring and summer. No-show socks are the comfiest option: your feet stay fresher, the lining stays cleaner and you keep that bare-ankle look.
