Choosing the right wedge height
A wedge spreads your weight along the whole sole, so it feels steadier than a heel of the same height. Height still matters, though. A low or mid wedge is the easiest choice if you're on your feet for hours. A higher wedge looks dressier but tires your feet sooner. It also helps to check how much higher the heel sits than the toe: the smaller the drop, the less pressure on the ball of your foot.
Materials and comfort
Most of the sandals here have leather uppers. Leather gradually moulds to the shape of your foot and feels pleasant against bare skin, which matters in a sandal. Fabric is lighter and gives a more casual look. Have a look at the footbed too: a leather lining or a bit of cushioning makes a real difference on hot days and longer walks.
Fastening and fit
With any raised sandal, a secure fit is key. An ankle strap or a front that sits snugly over the instep stops your foot sliding forward. Buckles and adjustable straps let you loosen things off if your feet swell later in the day, which is common in the summer heat.
Size and shape

Caring for your sandals
Wipe leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let it dry in the shade, away from direct heat. A leather conditioner or spray keeps it supple. Metallic finishes such as bronze or platinum are best cleaned gently, without rubbing. At the end of summer, store them clean and dry, ideally in their box or a cloth bag.
