Design and finish

The upper is a plain matt black with no fuss, made up of two wide straps across the instep. Each strap has its own dark metal buckle embossed with the Birkenstock name, which keeps the look understated and easy to wear with almost anything. The black outsole carries the brand's familiar tread pattern, and the footbed is stamped "Made in Germany".

Comfort and fit

The footbed is properly shaped: a slight ridge under the toes, support under the arch and a defined heel cup that keeps your foot in place as you walk. Both straps adjust independently, which really helps if you have a high instep or find your feet swell a little in the afternoon heat. With an open back, they go on and come off without bending down.

How to wear them
