The Fluchos Bruno boat shoe (F2434) in taupe, which the brand calls Marmota, is an everyday men's shoe that pairs a classic deck-shoe upper with a sole that has a touch of trainer about it. It is an easy, neutral shade that looks smart without trying too hard.

Materials and comfort

The upper is nubuck, a soft, matt leather with a velvety feel that softens as you wear it in. Inside you will find a textile lining and a textile insole, which lifts out, so it is easy to air or swap for your own orthotics. Underneath is a TR sole with a 2 cm heel, so you are practically walking flat. The sole has a wavy tread and a serrated edge, plus a white stripe along the side that gives it a sporty look.

Details and fit

It laces up through metal eyelets, so you can adjust it over the instep as you like. You get the visible moc-toe stitching you would expect on a boat shoe, a white leather strip on the side, small perforations, orange stitching on the heel and a little orange tab at the back. It is made in Spain, as printed on the insole.

How to wear it

Taupe works with jeans, stone or navy chinos and shorts, topped with a polo, linen shirt or plain T-shirt.
