Birkenstock Arizona 1029107 Leather Sandals in Thyme

The Birkenstock Arizona in green (style 1029107) is the two-strap sandal everyone knows, here in smooth leather in Thyme, a muted olive shade that works with most of your summer wardrobe. It's made for everyday wear: popping out for the paper, strolling along the seafront or sitting on a terrace in the sun.

Materials and comfort

The upper is natural leather with a smooth, matt finish, and the footbed is lined with suede, which feels soft against bare feet. Underneath sits Birkenstock's original anatomically shaped footbed, with support under the arch and a deep heel cup that keeps your foot in place; you can see the brand's familiar cork along the edges. The EVA sole is light and has a deep tread for good grip on pavements. Made in Germany.

Fit

Each strap has its own metal buckle, finished in the same green as the leather, so you can adjust the instep and the front of the foot separately. Being an open-back slide, it slips on and off without any fuss. As with this kind of footbed, it feels firm at first and gradually moulds to the shape of your foot as you wear it. How to wear them

Care

Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry in the shade, away from direct heat. Try not to leave them wet in strong sun, so the leather and footbed stay in good shape.
