Tamaris 1-22144-46-304 Woven Ballet Flats with Double Buckle in Brown

These Tamaris brown ballet flats take the classic Mary Jane and give it a fresh twist: an open woven upper with two buckled straps across the instep. They are completely flat, with a square toe and a smooth trim around the topline that frames the weave neatly.

Materials and comfort

The upper is a blend of textile and synthetic woven into an open lattice, so your feet get some air on warm days along the coast. The lining is also a textile and synthetic mix. Inside you'll find Tamaris's TOUCH-IT footbed, designed to mould to the shape of your foot. It is fixed in place, so it can't be swapped for your own orthotic insole. The synthetic outsole has the brand's ANTIslide non-slip finish and is only around a centimetre thick, with no heel to speak of.

Fit

The two metal buckles with eyelet straps let you adjust how snugly the shoe sits over your instep, so it stays put when you walk rather than slipping off like a strapless pump. The flat, square-toed shape also gives your toes a bit more room than a pointed ballet flat.

How to wear them

Dark brown goes with almost anything. Try them with a floral midi skirt, a linen dress, cropped straight-leg jeans or tailored trousers in cream or navy. They're a good pick for wandering round the old town, summer office days or relaxed weekends when you still want to look put together. For a slightly bohemian feel in spring and autumn, wear them with fine socks.
